I have not heard of this particular symptom before, but I can say that 'stall-detect' homing is very finicky. I recommend using limit switches instead.

Can you send the gcode program that you are running when the error occurs? Also, what version of software is your controller running?

If all the specs are the same it should work. However, this is really a question for your VFD vendor to comfirm that the spindle is compatible with the VFD.
