You could connect one of the 5V outputs to a solid state relay like this one on Amazon. Then wire the output in series between your brake motor brake and a 24VDC power supply.

The 5V output pins on the DB25 connector can be controlled with various GCode commands.

If it does nothing for five minutes, turn it off and back on. Then try again after it reboots.
