Re: How does probing work?

Thanks for pointing out these mistakes. In the original post, I was mistakenly saying that G90 was incremental mode and G91 was absolute mode. The reverse is true and I made those corrections in the original post. I also tried to use G70 to push the program state in the example program. M70 is the c...

Re: Curious what is new with V 4.8

0.4.8 is mostly bug fixes. Here's what's in it. * A red thermometer display is shown if the Raspberry Pi gets too warm. In addition, the Raspberry Pi temperature is now displayed in the "Indicators" tab on the "Control Page. * Version 0.4.6 introduced a problem that caused the Raspberry Pi to be exc...

Re: Limit Switches

Any limit switch that provides a contact closure will do the trick. The limit switch inputs on the Buildbotics Controller are just TTL compatible gates that are pulled high to 3.3Volts. The switch contacts just connect that output to ground. I like the magnetic proximity sensors like these https://w...

How does probing work?

Overview Probing in the Buildbotics Controller requires that you connect the probe to the controller and configure the controller to recognize the probe. When that's done, you can issue g-code commands from the MDI interface or from your G-Code program that cause the controller to search for the pr...

Re: CNC Etch-a-Sketch

I see what you mean. I am getting the same problem. I also noticed that, even though I have units set to Imperial on the Settings page, it still comes up at Metric in the drop down menu on the "Control" Page. Sorry that it took two times to get this into my thick head. I submitted this as a new issu...

Re: CNC Etch-a-Sketch

That is really cool! What a creative idea and an excellent way to get kids interested in CNC machines. On the topic of changing from metric to imperial. If you change it on the Control page, it only affects the g-code commands that you put in on the Control page and the units displayed for axis posi...

Re: Tool Offsets

You are correct. Tool length and tool diameter offsets are not yet supported.

Re: Touch Screen Monitor support

I got an ASUS touch screen monitor and hooked it up, but there was not virtual keyboard. The good news is that I was able to hook up a regular keyboard, then navigate to this link and add a virtual keyboard extension to the chromium browser on the controller. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detai...

Re: Touch Screen Monitor support

Just curious,

Were you able to get a virtual keyboard to come up on your touch screen?

Re: Some ideas for the future

I'd love to see support for wireless gamepads. The X-Box 360 controller is widely used and very versatile, but even support for the Logtech F710 would be awesome. Good suggestion. I've ordered an F710 to see if it works right out of the box. I'm betting it will. Simplify the jog speed changes on th...
