The IP address is assigned by your network router. Most network routers allow you to assign a static IP address to a particular MAC address. Once you do that, It should always be the same.

It is likely that the network connection is not strong enough to move the large file without errors. Is it possible to connect the controller to a hardwired ethernet connection. If not, is it possible to move closer to your wifi source?

I looked at the kit you purchased on line and it comes with ball screws and nuts with backlash compensation so I doubt that is a source of backlash.
