Heat Sink?

Post by smokey9lives » Sun Jul 17, 2022 2:03 pm

Hi Doug,

I was moving my controller around an found that the heat sink had come loose at some point. Can you let me know where I should reattach it and if I need to remove the board to put it back in?

Thanks!

Jason

The heat sink lays on top of the raspberry pi as shown. The white tape on the bottom should hold it in place. It conducts heat but does not conduct electricity. Make sure that no exposed aluminum on the heat sink is in direct contact with any of the components.

The white grease on the top is heat grease and ensure a good thermal connection to the lid.

You do not have to remove any boards to re-install the heat sink.

I don't have a heat sink in mine. Did the earlier version of the unit not have one or is mine just missing?
