Reset to factory default

It seems I have broken my setup. (Under investigation by Doug)
However before I reached out to Doug I wanted to fully reset my system to factory default. However, to my surprise, it seems that is not an option! That seems like a complete oversight to me.
I read somewhere that you can reset by reflashing the (hidden inside) SDCard? But in order to do that you need to take apart the box and remove heatshields and re-apply heat paste etc.
My question is this: a: Am I wrong? Maybe there is there an easier way?
And if not, B: can we please create a "revert to factory default" script in the config?
I am happy to SSH into the machine and kickoff a (remote) script or something. But I am reluctant to open up the hardware.
