Browser/display timeout on longer carves

Post by JPG963 » Tue Dec 29, 2020 5:23 pm

Is it normal during a carve for the display connected to hdmi to go blank with refresh button. When this happens I cannot view remotely and also lose webcam. Once I go to controller and refresh page I can then access remotely and hdmi displays controller. Is there sleep settings that can be adjusted on the ras pi?

What version of software is your Buildbotics Controller running?

It is possible that the Raspberry pi is getting overloaded. Does this occur if you disconnect the camera?

Yes it does. It does not hinder the actual functionality of the running gcode and like I mentioned when refresh is clicked it quickly reloads the controller screen and will stay on. I have not timed how long it takes to "time out" but seems to be going into a sleep mode if there is no movement of the mouse.

I have never seen the controller in this state. Can you post a picture of the screen when it happens?

Here is what is displayed through the hdmi output. When this occurs webcam can not be viewed remotely until refresh is clicked. Does not effect running gcode

Any ideas what may be causing this?

Actually, I have seen this screen before. It occurred when I was running a video stream and running a session on the local console and another session via a wireless network. The wireless connection was through a wifi dongle.

Does this situation sound familiar to you?

Also, can you post the gcode program that you are running when this happens?

This happens on every gcode file I run that is over 15 minutes cut time and happens even with just a direct connection to HDMI. It seems like there is a sleep setting set incorrectly on the raspberry Pi that is pausing the browser if there is no mouse/input device movement. Like I said before it does not affect the file being run but I lose the screen and have to click reload to get it back up. During the screen time out message I also cannot view remotely or control/estop the unit remotely. I am running a wifi dongle. Is there usb sleep settings that may be switching off after say 15minutes of inactivity.
